Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name.
- License Data: Information you input about your hunting and fishing licenses, including license numbers, issue dates, expiration dates, and holder information.
- Images: Photos of your licenses that you upload for OCR processing.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
- Usage Data: How you interact with the app, features you use, and crash reports for improving app stability.
- Analytics: Anonymized usage statistics to improve the app experience.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Hunter Passport service
- Process and store your hunting and fishing licenses
- Sync your data across devices (if you opt in to cloud backup)
- Send expiration reminders and important notifications
- Improve and optimize the app experience
- Respond to your support requests
Data Storage and Security
Local Storage (Offline-First)
Your license data is primarily stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. This ensures your licenses are always accessible, even without an internet connection.
Cloud Backup
If you enable cloud backup, your data is securely transmitted and stored using industry-standard encryption (TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest) on SOC 2 Type II compliant infrastructure.
Security Incident Notification
In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users via email within 72 hours of discovery, as required by applicable law. We will also notify relevant regulatory authorities as required.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: With trusted third-party services that help us operate the app (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, payment processing).
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights.
- With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize sharing.
Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to provide and improve the Hunter Passport experience:
- Authentication providers: For secure account sign-in
- Cloud infrastructure: For encrypted data backup and sync
- Payment processors: For subscription management (via Apple App Store and Google Play Store)
- Analytics: For anonymized usage statistics to improve the app
- Text extraction services: For OCR processing (images are processed but not stored by these services)

- Delete your account and associated data
- Opt out of analytics collection
- Disable cloud backup and use the app in offline-only mode
- Data Portability: Export your license data in a standard format (JSON) through the app settings
California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
- Right to Know: Request disclosure of personal information collected, used, or disclosed in the past 12 months
- Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal information (subject to legal exceptions)
- Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
- Right to Non-Discrimination: You will not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights
- Right to Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information

Categories of personal information collected in the past 12 months: Identifiers (email, name), commercial information (subscription status), and internet/device information. We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA.

Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your cloud-stored data within 30 days. Local data on your device remains under your control.
Children's Privacy
Hunter Passport is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
